125 years of All Saints
On 31st October 1891 All Saints Church was consecrated by the Bishop of Llandaff, the Right Reverend Richard Lewis. The Parish of Penarth All Saints was created on 16th July 1895 and the Rev’d Wyndham S. Heathcote became the first vicar.
This year, it is fitting that we look back at and celebrate everything that All Saints Church has been during the 125 years of its lifetime. A week of celebration (Saturday 29th October - Saturday 5th November) is planned which will includes a display in church, of artefacts, documents and photographs revealing different aspects of the church’s history.
We appeal to church members and the wider community for any contributions to be loaned or donated to the church for this exhibition. If you have a memory of the church which is not written down but you would like to share, we would be happy to hear it and put it into writing.
Also part of the anniversary events a new Roll of Honour is to be dedicated – commemorating the 32 men from the Parish of All Saints who gave their lives in the First World War. if anyone who has family connections – and possibly photographs – of any of the 32 war heroes we would like to hear from you.
Names of the 32:
Janet Akers: 029 2070 5554 or Jane McLaughlin: 029 2070 8088
Offers of help with the planning, designing and decorating of displays would also be gratefully received. Thank you.
